MahaloAloha Africa has been fortunate to receive many generous donations from friends. Here are a few examples: The Aloha Africa Van was donated by DJ and Steve Star, providing transportation for the group and all the drums and equipment. Steve and DJ also gave us two king-size beds, tables, chairs, shelves, and various other items that make a comfortable home. The Aloha Africa House is provided free of extra charge by Scott Silverston. Dr. David Rovinsky and Dr. Tyler Chihara, of Wilcox Memorial Hospital's Bone & Joint Center, gave Nii Anang the diagnosis, treatment, and customized shoes and equipment he has been wishing for since an injury suffered early in his life. Dr. Ileana Carreno donated funds and the most excellent dental care. Danny Hashimoto, Candace Freeland, Fawne Frailey, and Manima Dancosse have photograped Aloha Africa events. Lady Galactica loaned us the money to purchase 3 plane tickets from Ghana to Kauai in 2007. Dr. Larry Magnussen lent airfare for 2009. Dr. Chris Elliott, of Wilcox Hospital's Emergency Department, sent life-sustaining funds to Ernest in Ghana, paid the group's visa application fees, and helped with airfare.
Sponsorship Ideas$40 fills the gas tank of the Aloha Africa van. $50 provides a trip to Farmer's Market for fresh food.... favorites are okra, eggplant, taro, bananas, papayas, greens, and fresh tomatoes; all luxury items not affordable in Ghana. $100 feeds an Aloha Africa artist's family in Ghana for a week. $200 sponsors an Aloha Africa presentation in a school on Kauai. $250 pays school fees in Ghana for a child of an Aloha Africa group member to go to school. $300 pays Aloha Africa's cell phone bill. $500 hosts a private show for you and your guests. $650 covers lawyer fees for our visa extension application to keep the artists on Kauai longer. $350 covers the application itself. $1100 pays one month's rent for the Aloha Africa house. $2500 repays the loan for one plane ticket from Ghana to Kauai and back.
